Bemdem

Bemdem is created in the spirit of craftsmanship. Indeed, in our hyper-industrial society, the knowledge of the craftsman is gradually extracted to be formalized and cut into tasks. If the craftsman with his knowledge had complete control of the process, in the industrial world the naturally established links between head and hand, between man and machine are divided into sub-functions. Bemdem is created in being in turns, user, designer, tester, researcher, manufacturer. Thus, the distinctions are blurring. Links can be created between: the contact with materials, the craftsmanship experienced, the mastering of tools. The “making is thinking”, when working with the hand, alloys to understand the characteristics of the materials, their secrets, their strengths, and to discover their real limits. Imagination then allows perceiving opportunities for improvements and new uses. From this process for the Bemdem a provocative, innovative and curious association has spring out. The Bendem’s enamel porcelain feet unite delicacy and robustness. The craftsmanship process of Bemdem appears in the final product through the finishing details. Haijk

Haijk is a flowerpot that is guided by the logic of the plants growing patterns. Haijk can be sited in many positions to create a dialogue between the plant, sun and the person that interacts with the composition. The base is made out of pine and comes with a small atlas that shows where the tree is harvested and from which part of the tree it has it’s origin/RVW

Alog

A modular shelving system, featuring a wall mounted modular block and easily detachable shelves that require no fittings. The nature of the design allows for various combinations and compositions of shelves, allowing the user to create their own bespoke system. The design has strong roots in the language of grids and systems and functions both as a shelving system and a visual wall display. Alog shelving provides a diverse solution to storage requirements with simplicity of use built in/RVW

Library Chair

Multifunctional piece of furniture. An occasional chair in its resting state, the Library Chair folds into a step ladder when needed/Group Design

WardRope

WardRope a coat rack made to be hung from the ceiling. porcelain hooks mounted on the rope cling to it effortlessly due to the friction between the two materials. The hooks can be adjusted by sliding them along the rope. There is a weight at the end of the rope, which keeps it under tension. in collaboration with Susa Stofer/Veronika Wildgruber

leaf tie

The artificial cables all around us create a more dark and cold environment. The Leaf tie takes the cables and wraps the cables while bringing life to a dull area. It serves the dual purpose of design and efficiency. Charming and so simple/lufdesign

endy

The timber's ends are the most sensitive areas of the timber. In order to protect and seal it, they are painted in sawmills, thus preventing the appearance of splits in the wood. These colored ends are usually removed and discarded afterwards, so the end user is not aware of them. Endy stool is constructed only by these ends. It emphasizes the edges, thus preserving a hint of the origins of the wood, and celebrating these magnificent colors/Shay Carmon

bird lamp

The cheap bakelite bulb sockets have been widely used in China, from workshops to living rooms for over 4 decades without any change. With a bulb and some wire, it makes a practical and reliable pendant lamp for less than 10 RMB (about 75 pence).The bird lamps were designed to inherit the simplicity of the bakelite sockets but at the same time offer the user some more room for imagination – only by adding a little angle/Zhili Liu
