Schenkkraan

A water tap inspired by the philosophy of Martin heidegger. Pouring out of the stone bottle is giving. Graduation project at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
The "gutter tap" is based on the philosophy of Heidegger: Pouring out of a jar is regarded as offering. My design transforms this pouring jar image into a pouring tap. The tap comprises of a vertical pipe, with a gutter in a hinge at the lower end, suggesting an up and down moving handle. In the upward position, the tap is closed, while the gutter neatly covers the pipe as one piece. Moved down-wards, the tap opens and water starts running along the gutter, thus unfolding the "offering" gesture. The sight of running water along the extended gutter increases the awareness of water being a precious gift/Daphna Isaacs and Laurens Manders

Real Lies True Fake

Being fascinated and confused by all the different 'truths' about the 9/11 terrorist attacks Laurens Manders started a investigation on what truth actually is! The very simple but often forgotten conclusion is that; truth is a matter of perspective. The words REAL LIES TRUE FAKE in cast-iron letters illustrate his conclusion: One's truth will simply depend on where, with which religious background, in which political context, etc. he or she is standing/Daphna Isaacs and Laurens Manders

Paperzoo

Three, until now, unknown 'animals' stranded in the MU during the Dutch Design Week. Their names has been given by Daphna Isaacs and Laurens Manders, they intercept the three on their journey. Where they come from or heading for we don't know. Anhpad, Snerual, Kaztiurf give us just a sign of life through breathing/Daphna Isaacs and Laurens Manders

DUTCH INVERTUALS

The lamps are a contemporary translation of the classical centerpiece. The centerpieces stand out by shining upon themselves and their contents. By using a combination of shape, material and light three quaint characters arise/Daphna Isaacs and Laurens Manders

This collection of bags, called Papier (= paper), was actually designed by Stefan Diez for Saskia Diez, his wife who designs really nice jewelery. They are made from the same material, Tyvek®, as his other bags A1 & A2. It is a synthetic paper made from PE which is extremely tearproof, lightweight, waterproof and recyclable. Like most bags, they become nice after some wear and tear/great material/via: today and tomorrow
